Q: What is the orange RSS icon used for in my "SUBSCRIBE" bar and in the subscribe detail window ?

A: You will see several orange icons which enable RSS, XML (Atom) and iCal feed reader or import options.

Each option will import all future calendar events beginning with the current week. RSS feeds open in most modern web browsers and iCAL imports into many calendars, including MS Outlook. For RSS, change your Feed Property "Archive" settings to "Keep maximum items".

Q: Can I search for events by key words or phrases, and add them all to my calendar at once ?
[back to TOP | Next FAQ]

A: Yes. Using the search box in the upper left hand corner, enter your word or phrase and click the "Go" button.

Switch to "Table" view, so that multiple months are displayed.

Next, "Select: All" below the subcalendar box in the left margin (you will notice that all boxes are now checked next to the events).

Then click the "Add to My Calendar" button.
Note: Make sure to
Clear your search in the orange search bar when finished, or future actions will be limited to this particular search.

Q: Can I download all of the events from a single calendar, like Government ?
[back to TOP | Next FAQ]

A: Yes. In "Table" view, use the subcalendar "Mix-in" display and select "None" (all subcalendar check boxes will be cleared) then check "Government."

Now you can "Select: All" below the subcalendar box to highlight all check boxes next to events.

Then click the "Add to My Calendar" button, and select your calendar type from the choices offered.

Q: I already use Microsoft Outlook for scheduling. Can I add events to Outlook?
[back to TOP | Next FAQ]

A: Yes. When choosing to add a single event, or multiple events, you will be given a choice of five (5) popular calendar types including Microsoft Outlook.

Select the calendar you currently use and follow the instructions provided.

If none of the Calendar choices apply to you, you can select email notification, as shown.

Q: What if I choose to email mysef a reminder about a future event and the location, time or date changes?
[back to TOP | Next FAQ]

A: When you set-up an email reminder, you are given a choice as to how far in advance of the event you want to be reminded, from 1 day to 4 weeks.

If, after you receive the first reminder, the event changes, you will get another reminder, but at the same time span that you set the first reminder.

So it is always a good idea to select the “notify me of changes” option to receive immediate notification of event changes (especially if you sometimes set reminders for weeks in advance).

Q: Can I print out all or part of this calendar?
[back to TOP | Next FAQ]

A: Yes. You can choose from any view and print one, or all, combined calendars.

Use the "Mix-in" display to select the subcalendar(s) you wish to print, and use the "View" menu to select "Day", "Month" or "Week", for example.

Use "Table" view (shown) to print only the titles of events for a given selection, or choose "List" view to print titles and details for all events.

Then click the "Print" link to open the print preview window. After previewing, use your browser's "print" command (you do not need to select events, as the command will print all selections in any given view).

Q: Since Florida contains two time zones, how can I tell which time zone an event takes place in ?

A: The default time zone for all calendars is the Eastern time zone, and regardless of where an event takes place, the times noted for events are Eastern Standard Time.

However, since some users operate from the Central time zone, a time zone chooser is provided just beneath the calendar.

You can select "Central Time" in the drop drop down menu (4 slots above "Eastern Time") and all times will be adjusted to Central time until you leave the calendar or change to another time zone.

Depending on the action you take for an event, you may be prompted to select a time zone before taking the action, but when you make a selection in the time zone chooser, all times change globally, for all calendars.

Note: You may add events from this calendar to your personal schedule, but you cannot edit or add events to this Calendar. This capability is reserved for FDA authorized staff.

Therefore, you need not worry about accidentally modifying this calendar. We encourage you to explore the activities described above - practice, make mistakes, learn and have fun.
